Debate erupts over open letter to EU on Belarusian political prisoners

Former political prisoner Mikalai Statkevich sharply criticized the appeal of former Belarusian political prisoners to European leaders calling for more active efforts to secure the release of people from prisons. In his view, the authors of the letter are effectively proposing that Europe become a "buyer" in the trade in political prisoners conducted by Lukashenka's regime.
