In Belarus, following negotiations between U.S. Presidential Special Envoy John Coale and Alyaksandr Lukashenka, 25 political prisoners were released. The U.S., in turn, announced the lifting of sanctions on Lakokraska (OJSC) and the Bellesbumprom concern. Coale had previously said he expected a significantly larger number of people to be released. Why only 25 people were ultimately freed, whether the exchange of political prisoners for sanctions relief can continue, and what else Lukashenka might offer Washington – Franak Viachorka, chief advisor to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, discussed on Belsat.
