More than 500 years ago, on September 8, 1514, in the Battle of Orsha, the forces of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Polish units under the command of Hetman Konstanty Ostrogski defeated the army of the Muscovite State. In commemoration of this victory, Belarusians celebrate the Day of Belarusian Military Glory. Belsat, together with Aliaksei Lastouski, director of the Belarusian Institute of Public History, and historian Viktar Yakubau, examined why this holiday matters today and how it should be observed.
