Belarusian authorities increasingly talk about the demographic problem: falling birth rates and population aging are recognized as major challenges, while demographic security has been declared one of the top priorities for the coming years. At the same time, state media love to remind people that the population is also shrinking among neighbors, including by speaking about a "dying" Poland. Belsat decided to check how Belarus actually looks against other countries: when they reached their maximum number of residents and how much their population has declined since then.
