Following the protests in 2020 and the onset of a full-scale war in Ukraine, Volha increasingly felt helpless in the face of the events unfolding around her. In early 2023, she decided to take action in a way that she could truly influence: she took seven-year-old Andrei, who had lost his sight due to a serious illness, under her care in Belarus. In an interview with Belsat, Volha shared her reasons for this decision, what transpired afterward, and why she is now encouraging other Belarusians to consider guardianship and adoption.
