The international human rights organization Genocide Watch has published a new report regarding the situation in Belarus. The country currently exists in the sixth and eighth stages of the organization's ten-stage model, which outlines processes that can lead to genocide and mass violence: polarization and persecution. The authors of the report highlight several indicators of persecution, including the surveillance, detention, and torture of those who oppose the authorities.
