On that sunny Sunday morning of August 16, 2020, it was impossible to park at the railway station. Entry to the parking lots was prohibited, and driving into the yard was also impossible. Traffic onto Independence Avenue was blocked. Buses with the inscription "Custom Charter" arrived periodically. People got out of them. They were held for some time on the streets adjacent to Independence Square, and then led to the square on command. The square had changed noticeably overnight. Huge dump trucks filled with sand stood along the main building of BSU, the Metro Administration, and the Minsk City Executive Committee. Similar dump trucks completed the landscape on the other side of the square as well – near the Red Church and part of the Government House. And only the paddy wagons on Myasnikov Square indicated that what would take place here was not a grand reconstruction, but something else.
