The Belarusian government decided to exclude 177 settlements in Belarus—home to more than half a million people—from the radioactive contamination zone. Scientist Siarhei Besarab explained to “Belsat” why these areas cannot be considered clean, and expressed outrage over the government’s cost-cutting at the expense of people’s health.
