I was watching "The Odyssey," and I felt pain, I felt bitterness. No, Nolan's film is wonderful (with a few minor flaws), but I was thinking about us, about Belarusians. About our wanderings and our hope for the Return—capitalized just like that. And the film struck the wounds of my soul with precision, without missing once. Odysseus returned, and Ithaca did not recognize him, nor did he recognize his native home, and all he was capable of was retaliation against those who had bled his country dry for so long.
