In the first half of 2026, nearly 1,700 fewer individuals were convicted in Belarus compared to the previous year. While imprisonment and arrests were less common, prosecutions related to corruption increased. Among minors, the number of convictions for drug-related offenses dropped by more than half, whereas convictions for "facilitating extremist activities" rose significantly. Belsat analyzed data from the Supreme Court for the first halves of 2025 and 2026.
