In the first half of 2026, Belarus welcomed 30,365 labor migrants. The majority of these newcomers settled in Minsk and the surrounding Minsk region. The primary sources of migration included citizens from Russia, China, India, and Central Asian countries. Most of the migrants were not employed in highly qualified positions; instead, they worked as drivers, cooks, builders, livestock breeders, and laborers in various enterprises. Belsat examined new data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs to analyze the origins of these workers, their roles, and how the actual migration trends align with Alyaksandr Lukashenka's goal of attracting tens or even hundreds of thousands of foreigners to the country.
