In Belarus, three stores selling products with, so to speak, a national character — LSTR, Honar, and Ragna — were shut down in just two weeks. In addition, Belarus’s largest historical reenactment festival, “Our Grunwald,” was canceled, and earlier, the Kupala celebrations at the Dukora Manor were also canceled. In other words, in a supposedly independent country, the authorities are deliberately destroying the very institutions that promote the heritage which forms the foundation of that very independence.
