At least 17 foreign citizens, whom human rights activists consider political prisoners, remain in Belarusian prisons and penal colonies. Since 2020, at least 111 foreign citizens have been subjected to political prosecution in the country, and 79 have already been granted the status of former political prisoners. At least 39 foreign citizens have been pardoned and expelled from Belarus, according to the Human Rights Center Viasna.
