Over the past year, hundreds of political prisoners have been released from Belarusian prisons. Some were forcibly deported abroad, while others were able to remain in Belarus. Despite their release, these former political prisoners retained their "extremist" status. We describe how Belarusians who have supposedly regained their freedom are living in their homeland, but are unable to fully enjoy it.
