The leader of the United Civic Party called for sanctions not to be eased and urged efforts to secure a complete halt to repression. He argued that Belarusians have not reconciled themselves with Alyaksandr Lukashenka and that he is no longer viewed as a sovereign political actor even in Russia. Kazlou also warned of the danger of Russia’s “creeping” aggression against Belarus.
