The leader of the opposition United Civic Party, Mikalai Kazlou, was released over a year ago after spending two years behind bars. He could have remained in Belarus, but he felt unfree there and was unable to perform his work. Kazlou explained in an interview with Belsat why he ultimately decided to leave for the European Union.
