The U.S. president-elect argued for the end of the war with the loss of both sides' lives.
President-elect Donald Trump announced Thursday night that the war in Ukraine must end. During the pre-election campaign, Trump repeatedly questioned the legitimacy of continued military support for Kyiv.
,,We have to work hard on Russia and Ukraine. This has to end. Russia and Ukraine have to end it. I read the report today. Thousands of people were killed in the last three days. (...) Some were soldiers, but whether they're soldiers or (civilians), we're going to work on this, Trump said at an event organized by the America First Policy Insitute center in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.
In recent months, particularly during the campaign ahead of the presidential election, Trump has repeatedly made skeptical statements about continuing U.S. military aid to Ukraine. He also declared that he could end the war between Russia and Ukraine within 24 hours. According to the president-elect, European NATO member states should take on a greater burden to support Kyiv.
